Thank God I live in S. Florida! Medalla Light has rolled out here in our state and just in time for summer BBQ. I am a mainland US born, Nuyorican from the Bronx and my native family members are from CataƱo. I had my 1st taste of Medalla Light 10 yrs ago on a visit to the island and I was hooked and sorely disappointed that it was not available on the mainland when I returned home. Now it is available at my local grocer right here in my home state of Florida. To Aldo and Beer Snob, two previous posters, Medalla Light is certainly hard put to compete with many IPA,s, craft lager and equally impressive beers but Medalla Light is heads and tails far superior than anything that Budwieser, Miller, Corona, Tecate, or Dos Equis produces. In my opinion only Presidente from the DR runs a close 2nd. Looking forward to my All American 4th of July BBQ with my new American beer addition of Medalla Light!

Thank you, thank you Medalla Light for selling (finally) Medalla Light In central Florida, it's about time. I will definitely make Medalla Light My number one beer!!!! here in the United States. It taste great!!

Been on the island for about a year. Wasn't a huge beer drinker in the states but I guzzled when appropriate. After drinking Medalla holy crap! Best beer I've had and let me tell you that they're never enough Medallas. The quality gets better in glass and is amazing on draft. But you can't beat the Medallitas(7oz bottle), Only a buck and it'll get you TIPSY!

The post from Aldo??? is a pile of crap. Cerveza Medalla is the best beer there is. Even better than 2XX, modelo, corona and the one I normally drink...tecate. All named beers are better than your bud-light. Medalla tops them all. Aldo...pull your head out. You have no business drinking beer since you can't tell the difference.

I tried to buy Medalla in Jax, Fl, but they don't sell it here. Why?

as a 40 year old male I have to say I drink a lot of beer. I totally fell in love with Medalla Light on my last week stay in Puerto Rico. This is without any question the best tasting beer I have ever had. I am heart-broken that I can not buy it here on the mainland.... I dont understand.

Visited PR in 89 and ever since then been on th elookout for Medella beer in US and no luck. I used to drink beer and this was one of the best, alays baffled as to how it taste so good and wondering why they don't sell it in the US or that Coors or one of the other US labels don't snap them up. Most US beers sucks, big time.

Hey, Medalla is not just for Boricua's here on the mainland - it is for the Esposos de los Boriuas tambien! I had to smuggle it in my luggage every time I return from Puerto Rico. There is nothing like it - served in el modo del Boricuas - cold enough for a brain freeze or not at all. 100z cans! brilliant! AM

We love visiting Puerto Rico, and We love the Beer Medalla the best in PR.

I hate all beer and have all my life. That being said, I was in Puerto Rico last year visiting again and was very hot and thirsty. Sat outside at an Argentine Restuarant in Old San Juan and ordered a Medalla after tasting my friend's. It is delicious and I loved it! Very sorry I cannot find it in the States. A good excuse to go back to one of my favorite islands.

I just posted, then read a few more earlier post. Of course Sam Adams taste better; it's Sam Adams. SamA is one of the best beers in the hemisphere. Medalla probably closer to a Mich light, with great taste. When in "ROME", drink Medalla. You can drink Sam when you get back to wherever.

I'm not from PR, but I've lived here for 4 years. I'm a serious beer drinker and I'm proud to tell anyone that Medalla is my favorite beer. I don't like it much in the bottle, but in an ice cold can it is absolutely delicious! I don't have a problem with the fact that the cans are only 10oz. Remember, this is a tropical island, and it's HOT. The time it takes to drink those extra 2oz's might make it too warm. I will leave the island in about 2 more years and one of the things that worries me is that I won't be able to get Medalla in the states. There are a LOT of things about PR that piss me off, but Medalla makes everything OK! Oh, by the way.....it's not the cheapest beer on the island. Today, I bought a 30 pack of Miller Lite for 13.99. Try to find that in the states! I pay anywhere from $17 to $24 for a case of Medalla. Any nay sayers suck! Great beer! Rock on Medalla!

Shout out to all the MEDALLEROS out there....4th of July, beach, hot grils,ICE COLD MEDALLAS........VIVA PUERTO RICO.

I have to agree with a few others who are wondering if the marketing dept. of Medalla are required to write on this page. For me, Medalla is comparable to Natural light. guaca...fea.

Love that beer! Can't even find a place to have it shipped from?!? Five days in San Juan and lots of Medella consumed at the Conrad!!
*****
san juan pr from 3/10-16/10 was the best beer i ever had. medalla is the beer of choice in pr. wish we had it here cuz im now gonna pay lots right now cuz i want some for my party.

Damn, I was so disappointed to find that no one in the US carries this beer-even at my favorite speciality beer/wine shop they've not heard of it. One of the most refreshing beers I've had in a long time and certainly the beer of choice when in Puerto Rico. To top it all off it's relatively inexpensive, equivalent to a six pack of Bud in the states cost wise but certainly not taste wise. My mouth is frothing for a cold can now!

This beer is absolutely awesome and I am looking forward to my return to PR. Dos Medalla's Please.

Just returned from PR, got to say Medalla Beer is one of the best light beers. Sorry to find out its not sold in the USA. I can understand why Coors and Budweiser are afraid of this beer.
*****
Hey in PR!!! its not the best beer in the world but your in PR!!!! And it is pretty damn good!

I got to say that this page is being sponsored by Medalla or people are being paid to contribute to this page. Ive lived all my life in P.R. when I started drinking all we had was Medalla (the Bud Light of Puerto Rico) it was cheap and accesible. But when I got a job that required frequent traveling I discovered that Medalla is very overrated in P.R. I was astonished when I was introduced to Franziskaner, Crystal, Sam Adams and Tecate. It is sad that PR can only produce one beer, and is very low quality.

I'm not from Puerto Rico, but have spent plenty of time there. If you like the crap sold by Anheuser and Miller, then Medalla is right up your alley. However, if you like your beer to actually taste good and have had a real beer before, you know that rum is the only way to go in PR. Medalla is absolutely terrible. I drive 10 extra minutes and pay $2 more just to buy a 6-pack of Sam Adams when I am in PR. The one place to find a good Puerto Rican beer is a brew-pub in Old San Juan. There is absolutely none available on the rest of the island. I really do think that this website is sponsored by Medalla, because even Puerto Ricans know how bad Medalla is.

Wife and I honeymooned in PR and the all inclusive we stayed at kept our room fridge full of this stuff.... excellent. Wish it was easier to get on the mainland.

Just returned from my first trip to Sanj Juan where I was introduced to Medalla. What a great brew....a good place to quaff a few is at the pool bar at the Conrad Condado Plaza; a bucket of six cans for $20. Hoping to get some in PA or NJ, but not sure it's available.

I'm from Puerto Rico, but I've been living in Jacksonville, Fl for 2 years and the only way I enjoy my Medalla beer is when someone comes to visit that I ask them to bring a case! Its only 20 bucks and it goes in like another bag. I've even drove to Orlando, Fl once to visit and ask everybody evertwhere if they can find them but is actually impossible. But I hope one day we can enjoy our beer here in the US.

I just bought a 6 pack of medalla light at armitage. Produce on armitage and kimball in Chicago. The only thing bad it cost me $9.49 for a 6 pack :-(
****
brought back two six packs of medalla for 4.79 in mr.especial in aguadilla and everytime i open one i cant stop thinking about how beautiful the island and its people are.
****
I agree-Medalla beer was the best ever all this week! Does anyone know if it could be bought in N.J.?

Just came back from Puerto Rico and could not get enough of Medalla Light. I loved that it gave me a nice buzz without the hangover in the morning. Great taste, I miss my Medallas. I wish I could buy them in California.

Medalla is a great beer, served ice cold it has few equals.I have been to Puerto Rico a few times and look forward to their latin food accompanied by some ice cold medallas, can't think of many better culinary treats than that! Of course if we could get it in the states it would go great with a couple of nice steaks and lobster tails off the grill...

I live in Chicago en everytime I go to PR all I drink isd Medalla. I love the taste and I can have a full case and I dont get a hangover...anyone from Chicago that knows where I can buy them???

We just got back from P.R. two days ago and had the most relaxing amazing time. While I was at the bar I finally asked for a Medalla Light after tasting it I had it down within a few minutes then had another, I loved it! I'm not big on strong tasting beer but I'm not down with watered down tasting beer either. I hope that we get it in the states because our summers here in TN are scorching and theres nothing like a nice cold beer to cool you off!!!!!

This site must be in league with the Medalla people. I just got back from P.R. It's a wonderful place but horrible on the beer situation. Due to import & alcohol taxes beer is crazy expensive. All the cans are a puny 10oz'ers and half the stores don't refrigerate their beer section. Medalla is the most inexpensive beer on the island but it tastes like something that has run off the bathroom floor. If you can keep them REALLY ICE COLD and are already drunk you might not notice you are drinking a weak nasty little excuse for beer. If you don't know good beer from your elbow you are probably ok anyways. Beer drinkers beware. forget packing cloths or anything else. Fill your suitcase with your favorite beer! Everything else can be bought on the Island.

My wife and I went to puerto RICO fir a long weekend.... and coming from a real beer drinker... I had 1 bottle if medella light... and realized that this was one if the best beers I ever had...I live in Delaware and no luck... no one sells it...bummer....
*****
I'm from Puerto Rico, and you can't buy Medalla Light in the United States. There is a unofficial embargo on Medalla due to something about the island taxes (you would pay a lot more for Medalla if it was in the US). So, you are better off trying to find a Puerto Rican bar near you. They'll probably have it, I know many in Philadelphia and NYC do.

some of us know that medalla doesnt sell in united state because lobiyist all we have to is write to barak obama to let the the cerveceria india sell medallas in united state every time there is a lots of beers label inthe state why no let medalla sell it in the state we all know bedweiser and coors company are scared of the competition why ? they dont say anything when it come fron others country beers because medalla they all know will out sell them like bacardi does it all if bacardi is puertorican rum selling in the state they have to let medalla too competition who cared any way medallas always will be the best .

I have been to Puerto Rico twice and plan on going back this year for vacation.... just to get some more Medalla Light. It is a true crime that Americans can not get the chance to enjoy such a great beer. It is worth the trip to just get the beer. Any true beer drnker such try to make a pilgrimage to PR... you will be hooked like the rest of us beer nuts.

I remember seeing Brian K, and he had a bottle nipple on that beer! So, there is definitely still more Medalla beer in PR. I agree -- the beer was great, but next time check out the Carribean Lover or Boricua Kiss!
