ITS THE BEST AROUND, ITS A MANS BEER NT FOR BOYS.
Not available in SA anymore. Regular drinkers are desperate!! Apparently the South African Brewery license to make Amstel is finished :( So now we have to have imported Amstel or wait for an Amstel brewery :(
I have been drinking Amstel for close on 25 years and the shortage of supply in S.A has really left me in the lurch. Does anyone know when the new stock will be hitting our sunny shores so I can plan accordingly.
Drinking beer for me will be reduced 90% since Amstel was doing very well physically, mentally and should i say the beer tasted really good.
What can i say i enjoy love think drink and live this beer AMSTEL LAGER aka A-all,M-masters,S-sit,T-together,E-enjoy,L-lager.Now tell me people out there has there eva been something so refreshing as a ice cold AMSTEL,with does lil droplets goin down that green bottle, just made me thirsty,SA enjoy it while you still can
Amstel is killer wicked. I don't know why you had to check the Net for the alchohol content, check the bottle!! and I truly doubt. 9% is gonna make much of a difference, it must have been Englands performance! ahhh..time for an Amstel.
I have a friend called Gordon Andrews who is famed in these shores for drinking weak lager wherever he goes. Yesterday while watching another poor world cup perfomance by England he again opted for the weakest lager available, this so happened to be Amstel which i believe said on the pump that it was a mere 4.1%. during the afternoon it became apparent that his speach and behaviour was deteriorating rapidly to the point where he was embarrassing himself dreadfully. This morning he has phoned to tell me that he has looked up Amstel on the internet and infact it's 5% and therefore explains yesterdays embarrassing performance. Can somebody tell me, is the draft lager weaker than the bottles and cans because i'm certain it was not 5% although Gordy's dribbling and rolling eyes would suggest otherwise?
One of Africa's better beers.
Amstel is the greatest and extra matured beer ever.i love it!!!!!
I grew up around AMSTEL beer, and there is no comparisson to Amstel-Light, which is the only brand marketed in the United States. I resent the fact that, if I want to purchase AMSTEL here, I have to settle for the colored, tasteless water called Amstel Light.
Recent trips to Johannesburg and to Swaziland, as well as a trip to Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles restored my faith that "OUT THERE" it is still possible to purchase, drink and enjoy REAL AMSTEL LAGER.
At 5% alcohol content, it is hardly a light beer, but it feels as light as many other contenders that offer a percentage point lower. It is has a great taste and [no] after effects. It is crisp and best enjoyed ice-cold. Have tried many many beers, and I must say huge applause to the Dutchman that invented Amstel!
