Taiwan Beer by Ostwind
This is my favorite beer in Taiwan! I really enjoy the strong buttery scent and sweet taste. The rice they added into the brew gives it unique flavor that you won't find in other beers.
Not all Taiwan beer are alike: the ones in kegs and brown bottles taste kina bad. If you happen to be in Taiwan, always get the ones that are in green glass bottles (see comments below).
The green bottle Taiwan beer comes in 2 flavors. The one that I strongly recommend are the "Draft", which comes in a plain (sometimes dirty looking) green bottle. They are rare coz they have a short shelf life, and can only be found in restaurants and a few local stores.
The "Gold medal" one is comparable to the Draft, but its not super. This is the most common one you will find in supermarkets and restaurants.
Don't bother buying the exported Taiwan beer. They simply don't taste as good as the local draft.
Taiwan beer is a great beer, brown bottle not so much... but the gold medal beer in the green bottle is great.

I think you are ALL crazy! I love the stuff - can't get enough of it!
You guys are all yuppie wannabe's. Give it another try....
a really terrible beer. full of preservatives and chemicals. foul taste. guaranteed hangover. stick to the readily available japanese beers if you find yourself in taiwan
There are actually three common versions of Taiwan Beer. Peter reviewed the Taiwan Beer Draft, which usually comes in green bottles. It is the most expensive and is only good for two weeks. The other green bottle is Taiwan Beer Gold Label. It's not as good but is carried more places since it keeps longer. Regular Taiwan Beer in the brown bottle is poison. One bottle will give me a splitting headache, but it is cheap and some people don't suffer from it as much as I do, so by all means…
Most variable, from batch to batch of any commercial brew I have ever experienced. So, you never know what you will get next. Sometimes just a shade more flavorful than the Bud beside it in the cooler case, next time a fruity, sweet homebrew like cherry or raisin jack.
I've swilled my share, man and boy, these thirty years and more, and never regretted it 'til the next morning.
Taiwan Beer is a slightly underrated - though it has won medals recently in london & Brussels - 4.5% German-style pilsener. Tastes a little fuller than that abv. Best in green bottles & drunk very fresh as opposed to the older labels which sometimes hide old beer. I cannot fathom out why the draft version - and I mean kegs - is not promoted or marketed much more. Draft is almost impossible to find now - even in the capital city! When you can find it, it's a fine tasting lager.
