Bath Ales “Gem” Very nice if you buy it and drink it straightaway. However, it does not have a shelf-life. I bought four bottles, two of which I drank within a few days. I left the other two in my spare fridge and drank them a few weeks later. How things had changed! The sour taste that happens with poor bottle-conditioned beer had just started. I tried one and immediately noticed that it was past its best, so I poured it away. The other bottle was just as bad, so I poured that away as well. The best-before date was 09.08.06. I think if I had saved a bottle until then I could have used it as an alternative to vinegar on my chips.
