Refreshing, Amber Ale by Honty
I'd say this was better than 'perfectly serviceable'. While there are plenty of more distinctive ales to be had (and if ales are your thing, the UK has hundreds of fantastic artisans brewers), Shepherd Neame, the UK's oldest family brewery, has produced this beer as something of a summer drink that makes a wonderful change to lager. Indeed, it has a lovely, hoppy roundness but retains the enough alcohol and bitterness that it can be enjoyed chilled right down at a barbecue.
Spitfire is pretty good, has a decent though not astounding taste... Its sort of middle of the pack in terms of bottled ales. You can get something far tastier (Wychwood Goliath & Wychcraft, Abbot Ale, St Austell Tribute, Deuchars IPA etc.)
Excellent social beer. Good balanced taste and actually quite refreshing.
That said there are better ales out there but when you see this you know what you're going to get which is a good thing.
Perfectly serviceable bitter from Shepherd Neame, a Kentish brewery that claims to be Britain's oldest operating brewer (since 1698 or something?). Originally brewed in 1991 for the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, hence the name. Pleasant, if uninspiring and notable primarily , as noted above, for the jingoistic ads. You can do a lot worse, but there are plenty of better British beers out there.

Fine. Nothing special. More remembered for the poor taste anti-German advertising campaign.
Really nice ale thats hard to stop drinking, only 4.5 so not too strong... A good ale for those that like milder tastes and more flavour. A social beer.
Dark, mean, menacing and feisty. A fabulous brew.
But then I would say that, I own shares in the brewery ;)
