DAILY BUDGET in ANKARA - At US$20 a day giving accommodation, meals, and travel expenses, Turkey is a treat for backpackers and all budget travellers. If you up your daily budget to about US$35 a day, you are really styling it. |
Copper Alley – check out one the best of Ankara’s attractions where antiques, curios, and copper displayed in the small craftsmen shops.
Mausoleum of Kemal Ataturk – Every tourist setting foot in town makes a turn at the mausoleum of the founder of modern Turkey, just as every visiting dignitary does.
Kocatepe Camii – This magnificent mosque, which is the largest in Ankara, took 20 years to build, and although is has the architectural style of the 16th century it was 20th century technology that brought it into being.

Sakarya Street – This entire area is known as Sakarya Street, and any number of eateries can be found here, from fast food to fish restaurants.
Hisar Kule Restaurant - Doyran Sok. 3, although the food here is excellent and the ambience intimate and cosy, the prices are okay and within the reach of backpackers.
Bogazici Lokantasi - Denizciler Cad. 1/A, in a man’s world, set in a man’s country, this is a man’s eatery, but, nevertheless serves good food at good prices.

Hard Rock Cafe Ankara - Simon Bolivar Cad., Duyu Sok. 2, same old, same old, but with great burgers and chocolate cake.
Kinacilar Restaurant & Bar - Ankara Kalesi Kale Kapisi Sok. 14, This little place makes a change from the usual with a bar and only about seven tables and one of the proprietors strumming his guitar, very cool.
Sherlock Holmes - Guvenlik Cad. 97, you get the best of both worlds here, with a disco on the first floor open till all hours as per Turkish nightclub, and on the second floor a traditional British pub.
Laila Ankara - One of the Best and Classy Night Clubs in the City. Located in Sogutozu Cd. 10/1.
