Antalya Travel Guide for backpackers


There is no need to ever be bored in this place with the mass of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by any backpacker worthy of the title, and hardly a cent need be spent as well. There are caves to be explored, mountains to be climbed, an ocean to be dived, and beaches for chillin’ and kickin’ back  

DAILY BUDGET in ANTALYA - Turkey prices will put a grin on the face of most backpackers, with US$20 a day giving them food, a place to crash and bus or train travel. For comfort and style to go with board and lodging, US$25 to US$40 a day will give the backpacker a sense of superiority and excellence.

Hiking – The mountains, canyons, seaside villages, and ancient ruins make Antalya a great destination for walking and hiking.

The Karain Cave – the 50,000-year-old artefacts that were discovered in this archaeological wonder prove this the oldest human settlement in Anatolia.

Hadrians Gate – Built in A.D. 130, in honour of the emperor’s visit, this Roman triumphal arch still stands today, guarding the entrance to the ancient city.

China Garden - Ataturk Kultur Parki, Although you should dress smartly when dining here, it is worth tossing you shorts and tee’s for the some of the greatest fusion food you’ve ever tasted in this Chinese restaurant. Prices range from $2.70-$4.70.

Gizli Bahce/Secret Garden - Selcuk Mahallesi, Dizdar Hasan Bey Sok., No. 1, serving Turkish and Italian food in their two restaurants, this is a great eatery where even if you have to dress smartly, still remains inexpensive.

Sim Restaurant - Kaledibi Sok. 7, simple, down-to-earth, and good food, make this family-run restaurant a backpacker’s venue.

Highlander - Yat Limani Iskele Cad., 2, owing it’s decor to the series of the same name, Highlander has live music over the weekend and closes its doors at about 3 am.

Sula Restaurant & Bar - Iskele Cad. 25, Live Turkish music and dinner in the garden courtyard makes this a memorable place for a booze-up.

29 Antalya – Yacht Harbour, this is by far the most exclusive entertainment complex in Antalya, and it does have a cover charge, but it is here that the late-night disco and DJ pumps the crowd.

King´s Bar - King´s Bar is situated in the old harbour in kaleici. It´s sort of hidden in a small alley just to the right of a small market called Kings Market. Best place in antalya, cheap beers, exellent atmosphere. come as you are
