Antwerp is situated in the north of Belgium and is the world’s fifth-largest port. Meaning there are more than enough to keep the traveler occupied.
Besides being an important trading center, Rubens and other painters made this city an important center of the arts. Antwerp is also a world leader in the diamond trade. |

DAILY BUDGET in ANTWERP - It’s relatively cheap to get around in Antwerp, but budget hotels are rare and usually booked in advance so expect to spend about $40 per day on lodging and food. |
Diamondland - Situated in the Diamond Quarter Diamondland is worth a visit to see rough and polished diamonds, slide shows and diamond cutters at work.
Koninklijk Museum Voor Schone Kunsten (Royal Museum of Fine Arts.) - This museum lies in the southern part of the old city and contains more than 1500 paintings by old masters.
Architecture - It is well worth taking a few days just to walk through the old streets of Antwerp and look at the buildings and cathedrals. Walking along the river is also an enjoyable experience not to be missed.

Panache - 17 Statiestraat - This is an Antwerp institution. For great sandwiches not to be missed.
Zuiderterras - At this riverside cafe you can have a light meal while looking at the river traffic.
Self help - Buy cold meats, fresh bread and wonderful cheeses for an even cheaper option.

Bierhous Kulminator - 32/34 Vleminckveld - Bar most famous for its 550 different beers, some as old as 30 years.
Den Engel Grote Markte - Great vibe with an eclectic clientele facing the main square’s fountain.
Vagant Pelgrimstraat - For those travelers in need of a late night haunt this is the place to be.
