Bristol Travel Guide for backpackers

Smack bang in the 21st century, Bristol is one of Britain's most progressive cities, due largely to the vitality of its youth culture, who seem to have taken this grand old dame, given her shades, tatts, and sparked her a spliff.

DAILY BUDGET in BRISTOL - To put up in hostels, or camp, and do some self-catering the backpacker needs to budget at least US$ 53 a day, and for B&B's, one decent meal a day, and a few sights, then look at upping the ante to US$124 a day.

College Green - Great for lazing around and doing nothing, with the Bristol Cathedral in the background.

@Bristol Square - Fountains, families, and enough space for some skating make this a cool hang out spot.

Quayhead - Come to Neptune's statue where the River Frome takes a dive underground, and meet others of your ilk hanging about talking crap and checking out the walk-by attractions.

Sergio's - located on Frogmore Street, this is a great place for pasta, and stays open late.

Mickeyfins - located near the Hippodrome, this is good for cheap chow and hanging out until the clubs open.

Eric's Cafe - found in Small Street, just around the corner form the White Lion Pub, Eric's serves good quality food, at prices that won't break the bank.
Add your favourite cheap eat!

The Hatchet - Bristol's oldest pub this is where most rockers hang out waiting for the clubs to open.

Highbury Vaults - located in Cotham, this dark little dive serves cheap booze.

The Robin Hood - located on St Michael's Hill, by far the best in town, avoided by students and other such dubious characters.

Full Moon and Eclipse - A nice pub mostly inhabitated by goths, punks and other such reprobates which means it wont have many students coming in. The beer is good, the food at lunch time is cheap and good and the music is rock/indie music.
