| Buenos Aires Travel Guide for backpackers |

Wander the streets of this lively cosmopolitan city and drink in the history and heartbreak, then read the laughter and indifference in the people's eyes and smile with them. They have created a fascinating city that is easily explored on foot, with symmetry and logic being the guidelines.
This city has elegant old town houses, cobbled streets and beautiful cool parks, and an amazing totally 21st century multi-lane, enormously wide, highway ripping straight through the centre of everything. |

DAILY BUDGET in BUENOS AIRES - With meals running at about US$4-10, and accommodation about US$10-30, backpackers should be able to get by on about US$40 a day, but with the fluctuation in the value of the peso, it might be wise to budget for a little more. |

Cementerio de la Recoleta - Only in Buenos Aires would a cemetery be considered a tourist attraction, but check it out, people are dying to get in it. Or to put it another way, it is so lavish and ornate… it's to die for. (Sorry, couldn't help it).
Plaza de Mayo - It was from the balcony of the pink presidential palace, the Casa Rosada, in the Plaza de Mayo, that Juan and Eva Peron, and other such dignitaries addressed the crowds below.
Plaza Dorrego - This is where the sultry, sensuous tango was birthed, and where a bunch of bohemian artists hang out, it is also the home of the Museo Historico Nacional, and dripping with the city's cultural wealth.
Teatro Colon - Try to see this world-class theatre, it is seven storeys high and can seat a whopping 2500 spectators, with standing room for another thousand.
