Cannes Travel Guide for backpackers


The film industry and all other manner of businesses represent Cannes main source of income in an ever increasing calneder of festivals, tournaments and trade shows. Situated in the province of "The Cote D'Azur" not many cities can offer you such beautiful ligh, as well as the harmony of the seashire and the wooded mountain sides all year round. The warnth of its welcome and its provencal roots make it a perfect hilday destination.  

DAILY BUDGET in CANNES - Hostel and cheap hotel accommodation can range from $10 to $35 per night, including bedding and one should budget $5 to $15 for meals from cheap restaurants and markets. Student discounts are common and a 10% to 15% service charge is levied onall accommodation and food restaurant bills, so tipping is at your discretion

Free Beaches - You will find non-paying beaches to the west of the "Le Suquet", the Old Town, along the plagues du Midi and Just east of the Palais des Festivals.

La Croisette - The site to see is the "La Croisette", the long boulevard along the sea front, with its palace hotels on one side and private beachs on the other.

Carte Musees Cote d'Azur Museum Pass - offers the opportunity for discover the cultural heritage of all the Museums, monuments and Gardens. Rates are for one day $10.00 , 3 days for $18.00 and 7 days for R$30.00

Self Service - Buy you own food in the Forville covered market, two blocks form the Mairie.

Caliente - 84 Bd de la Croisette. This hip Latin bar is jammed in the summer until dawn with Salsa dancing regulars.

Jimmy'z - Palais des festivals. The cabaret shows are ledendary.

Casin Croisette - Palais des Festivals. This famous casino draws more crowds to its slot machines than any other casino in France.

Morrisons Pub - Great pub happy hour (3hrs) has to be done everybody Speaks english and it is the best tourist info in town. No dress code great music nice customers everybody gets the same abuse AWSOME
