| Casablanca is the principal city of Morocco and is now the largest port of the Maghreb, even busier than Marseilles. It is located at the heart of Maroc Utile, the country's most fertile zone and the centre of its mineral deposits.
Today, Casablanca, is much like a large southern Eroupean city,which makes it fairly easy for tourists to get their bearings as they begin tounderstand something about Moroccan life. |

DAILY BUDGET in CASABLANCA - Casablanca is quite inexpensive, with affordable places to stay and cheap cafés. With a daily budget of US$25, you will have a great time. If you want to live it up a little a daily budget of US$60 will let you have a more luxurious stay. |

Cathedral of Sacre Coecur - Found at the far end of the Parc de la Ligue Arabe. This old cathedral was built in an European style, but also adopting traditional Moroccan forms. Once used as a school, theatre and cultural centre, it now stands empty.
Mosquee Hassan II - Raised on a rocky platform reclaimed from the ocean, it represents the late monarch's most ambitious building project, and his legacy to Moroccan architecture. Despite the Moroccan tradition of refusing non-Muslims access to religious sites and buildings, the mosque is open to all, on accompanied one-hour visits.
Jewish quarter - More than 60 percent of Morocco's 6000 to 7000 Jews live in Casablanca, mainly in the Lusitania district. There are plenty of sights to see here, incuding the city's principal synagogue, Benarroch and a couple of Jewish schools.

Restaurant l'Etoile Marocaine - This restaurant a good atmosphere and convenient for the CTM bus station and Marche Central. Unlicensed. Open for lunch and dinner, with specialities like pastilla and mechoui. Located at107 Rue Allal Ben Abdallah.
Restaurant des Fleurs - The snack bar downstairs is good for breakfast; upstairs, there is a more formal restaurant serving French and Moroccan dishes. Found at 42 Av. des F.A.R.
Cafe l'Intissar - Found at 14 Rue Chaouia, corner with Rue Allal Ben Abdallah, this Cafe serves excellent-value dishes, with a reliable plat du jour, served up by a young enthusiastic team.

La Cage - Located at Centre 200, this nightclub attracts a young crowd who enjoy dancing till late. A great place to meet up with some of the younger locals.
Au Petit Poucet - Found at 86 Bd. Mohammed V, this bar is attached the famous restaurant and is one of the best bars in downtown Casablanca if you want to get down to some serious drinking and chatting.
La Arizona - Found across Av. des F.A.R. on Rue El Amraoui Brahim. Here in this lively nightclub you'll find dancing of all sorts, a lot of noise and the occasional shows.
