Chengde Travel Guide for backpackers

Chengde, a small country town, sitting in a river basin on the west bank of the Wulie River, surrounded by the Yunshan mountain range. Gorgeous temples punctuate the cabbage fields around town and recent years it has once more become a summer haven for city dwellers escaping the hussle and bustle of Biejing

DAILY BUDGET in CHENGDE - Currency: Renminbi ('People's Money') Meals - can be kept to around $1 - $2 a meal. Accommodation should be budgeted for about $25 - $35 a day. Food is cheap throughout China. The bottom line is that you'll be charged the 'tourist price' a lot of the time - it's a practice encouraged by the government. Tipping is not really expected in mainland China - but bargaining is definitely OK. You can bargain in shops, street stalls, and hotels - but not in large stores

Puning Temple - The world's largest woodcarving Buddha is in this temple.

Putuo Zongcheng Temple - A small Potala Palace is a most resplendent and sweeping one of all eight Temples in Chengde.

Xumi Fushou Temple -a name tha means blessing and longevity and a temple that exudes in impressiveness and magnificence.
