Galleria Dell"Accademia - Want to see the famous David then a visit to Galleria Dell"Accademia should be on your list. Works by Michelangelo are the highlite here.
The Uffizi Gallery - The first modern museum in Europe is a cool place for art lovers and certainly a landmark in Florence.
The Piazza della Signoria and Piazzale Michelangelo - Other great places to check out.
Mercato Centrale - This is a great indoor market with fanastic Tuscan food, like Parma ham, cheeses, fresh pasta, herbs, liqour and fruits and vegetables. it's located near the San Lorenzo church, open til 14 pm every day.

Bar Signorini Tosca - Tucked away in Piazza Salvenini 14 Santa Croce serves very good sandwiches and real cool cheeseburgers which don't cost the earth.
Borgo Antico in Piazzo - S Spirito 6/r in the Altramo - Check out the passing parade and enjoy a pizza or other trattoria fare.
Da Rocco - In the Market Sant" Ambrogio, Piazza Ghiberti is very popular with the locals and the Tuscan food is good and the prices are cool. They serve lunch only and the menu changes daily. Wine is charged "da consumo" by how much you drink from the flask. This is a very busy place.

Copacaccia - In Lungarno Corsini draws the night crowds often flowing out into the street.
Slowly - on the Via Porta Rossa - the watering hole that's cool for the locals and tourists. The place to cruise.
Danny Rock - In Via Pandolfini serves good pasta and great cheeseburgers. Watch cartoons on the big screen.
