DAILY BUDGET in GALWAY - Like other cities in Ireland, it is possible to get by on a daily budget of US$45, by staying in one of the youth hostels and eating at the budget cafes. If you want to sample more of what the city has to offer, a daily budget of US$95 is what you should work with. |

Galway City Museum - Galway City Museum is run by Galway City Council and contains items of archaeological, historical and cultural interest to Galway City. The collection also includes folk life material from Galway County. Located at Fishmarket, the Museum is attached to a section of the town wall and to the Spanish Arch.
Galway Cathedral - This cathedral is very tranquil and during the day they play peaceful chorus music. Officially called the Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St Nicholas, this is a relatively new building (built around 25 years ago), but is still a sight well worth seeing.
Galway Arts Centre - Located at 47 Dominick street, this centre hosts visual arts exhibitions, workshops and a youth theatre company, and it's also a good place to find out what's going on in the arts locally.

Delight - This small cafe found at 29 Upper Abbeygate street, serves great coffee; breakfasts; pastries; novel sandwiches; salads and hot dishes. The food is great and the prices are affordable, it's only open Monday to Friday.
Mocha Beans - Located at Lower Cross street, the aroma of rich roasted coffee beans and home-baked pastries pervades the air of this little place, where sandwiches, soups and salads are also served. This is a great place to go for lunch or just for a coffee break.
Left Bank Cafe - Found at Lower Dominick street, this cafe offers good sandwiches, panini and simple full meals at reasonable prices. It is ideal when you want a quiet spot and other places in the more popular Quay and Cross streets area are full.
Couch Potata - Great location to have a huge variety of potatoe meals at reasonable prices for Galway City!

Roisin Dubh - Located at 9 Upper Dominick street, this pub is a Galway institution and has been the host to some of the best musicians that have visited the city over the past decade. They play all kinds of music from folk and tradtional to cajun and rock.
Taylors - Also found in Dominick street, this is a more traditional bar with plain, hard benches and stools, and a beer garden at the back. This is the place to go if you want to hang out and chat, while downing a couple of pints of ale.
GPO - This one of the most popular clubs in Galway, and is found in Eglinton street. This lively, two-roomed affair, consisting of a main club floor and The Drum bar, attracts a young, studenty crowd with a wildly varied programme that occasionally includes top live acts and international DJs.

Cookes Thatch Pub - One of the oldest Pubs in Galway. Wednesday and Sunday nights they play host to amazing Traditional Irish Music sessions.
