Moscow - Russia Travel Guide for backpackers

Moscow is the warmly beating heart of Russia and is filled with her memories of yesteryear as well as her present day triumphs and glories. A city that looks to the future and all the modern hi-tech conveniences and sophistication that comes with progress, and yet restores and cares for buildings that have been vandalized or damaged through the ignorance of the past.

DAILY BUDGET in MOSCOW - RUSSIA - Should you have the self discipline to settle for cheap accommodation, careful self catering, and avoiding the fleshpots and bars, then you could scrape by on US$30 a day. US$85 a day will provide a decent bed, some restaurant dining, and you could even check out a few of the paying sights.

St Basil's Cathedral – This incredible piece of architecture has been fascinating people for, well, ever. It still does, with so much going on in decorations that one has to wonder what they were smoking back then.

Tverskaya Ulitsa/B> – This is the most famous street in Moscow where 19th century palaces and churches vie with 1930 apartment blocks.

Arbat/B> – this exciting and lively street where magnificent paintings are sold on the sidewalk, along with souvenir stalls, and buskers are one of the best attractions of the old city.

Street Vendors/B> – Fast food kiosks selling cheap, but yummy stuff, like baked potatoes with different toppings.

Sbarro/B> – Okhotniy Ryad Mall, great pizza in the middle of Moscow, and cheap and delicious.

Pelmeshka/B> - Kuznetsky Most Street, 4/3, building 1., dumplings, salads, soups and all kinds of cheap, quick and filling food is sold here with self service in the daytime.
Add your favourite cheap eat!

Kralimarko/B> - 3rd Street of Yamskogo Polya, 24, Bowling, billiards, and boozing… what more could you want?

The Real McCoy/B> - Kudrinskaya ploschad 1, this club never shuts its doors and poses as an ordinary restaurant during the day, but when the sun goes down tosses off its inhibitions and turns into a rip-roaring dance and fun place.

Schastlivchik Den (Happy Den)/B> - Starovagankovsky Pereulok 19/7, live music and pool tables in this beer club, make it a decent hangout if you’re not into loud crowds.
Add your favourite bar or club!
