| Nagano hosted the XVlll Winter Olympics in 1998. The Japan Alps is a funky hikers destination in summer and great for skiers in the winter. Besides Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, these mountain ranges are a challenge for any hiker. The villages in the mountains offer a unique insight into mountain life. Traditional architecture is still retained in some of the villages. |

Nagano Club Junk Box Again Building 7F situated in central Nagano city you can dance to trance. Cover charge gets you a free drink.
Agura 4-7 Shinmeicho, Takayama open till midnight Tuesdays to Sundays. Hip waiters serve food and sake and whatever else but it costs.
Atomboy 7-21 Kami Okamoto, Takayama The Japanese pop music drive some dudes nutty but the food is good and you can booze if thats what grabs you.
