| Nashville Travel Guide for backpackers |

| Country music is a $2-billion-a-year industry, and Nashville scoops a lot of that jam on to its plate, being the hub of the business. In a fight to maintain its position as Music City USA, Nashville has prettied up its historic downtown neighbourhood, known as The District and it now pumps night and day with glitz, glamour and a whole lot of whoopin' it up in restaurants and nightclubs. So much so, that The District is fast becoming the one the trendiest and busiest after dark partying places in the South. |

DAILY BUDGET in NASHVILLE - It is possible to come out on around $50 to $60 a day if prepared to stay in hostels, or camp, and do your own catering. Quite honestly though, $100 to $120 will give more oomph to a visit here, with a comfortable bed in a motel and some decent meals at restaurants and still leave some over for paying attractions. |
 |
The Grand Ole Opry museum - Located at 2804 Opryland Dr, entrance in free here for those who want to travel back in time to the days of Jim Reeves, Mary Cline and Marty Robbins.
Jack Daniel's Distillery - Tenn. 55, Lynchburg, marked in the National Register of Historic Places this is the oldest registered distillery in the United States and was founded in 1866, so do yourself a favour and take a free tour of the place to see how your favourite tipple came into being.
Opryland Hotel - At 2800 Opryland Dr., this fantasmagical (I know there is no such word… just made it up!) hotel is gi-normous! It has 2,883 rooms and 3 astronomical atriums that are covered by glass, and house a miniature tropical forest with streams, waterfalls and other excellent water features and plants. Gotta see it!
|

Fido - in trendy Hillsboro Village, 1812 21st Ave. S., this switched-on coffeeshop is located in what once a pet shop, but now is the ‘in' place for coffee, chat, and chow.
Provence Breads & Cafe - At 1705 21st Ave. S., the best pastries, bread, sandwiches and salads are served up in this place that has just gotta be the best bakery in town.
Bongo Java - Take a trek down to 2007, Belmont Blvd, where the Belmont University students hang out and try some of the grub on offer… it will be well worth it.
|

Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar - At 220 Printer's Alley in The District, this is the place to hear blues guitar while you wash away your own with a couple of Jack's.
Denim & Diamonds - At 950 Madison Sq., this club can hold over 2,000 people and usually does on Friday and Saturday nights, so if you are really into country music come down and dance up a storm on its 4,000 sq ft dance floor.
Sportsman's Grille - 1601 21st Ave., here brass, beers and burgers keep the crowds packing into this sports bar that has a touch more class than the average spit, curse ‘n fart place.
