| Known as The City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford and its university, is world famous, and justly so. The offspring of the rich and royal have received their education here for the past 800 years or so, and the town has been in existence since the 9th century. So there is history galore and ancient buildings, colleges and museums to be explored in this venerated place of learning, as well as a few raucous nights of boisterous boozing and fun with the students. |

DAILY BUDGET in OXFORD - Camping or staying in hostels, and doing a spot of self catering will cost in the region of US$40 a day, and US $72 a day will cover the cost of a B&B and some restaurant food, as well as leave something over for entrance fees. |
Thames Path - Take a hike along the riverside trail passing through Oxford from London to the Cotswolds, or watch the students punting, or bombing one another from bridges over the river.
St John’s - The imposing classical architecture of St John’s is a tribute to our ancestors’ sense of beauty and balance, and is amongst the best of all the college buildings in Oxford.
Magdalen College - With grounds of 100 acres that has deer running free and more than a mile of riverside walks, Magdalen is a great place to spend a quite afternoon.

Grand Cafe - 84 High St., chow down on sandwiches, salads, or tarts in this gorgeously decorated place with antique marble tables, where the food is priced right for a student or backpacker.
Gee’s - 61 Banbury Rd., popular with all the residents of Oxford, this place that was once a florist shop serves food from US$12 upwards.
Cafe Joe’s - 21 Cowley Rd., meet the students as they pig out on goat cheese salads, or grilled chicken at this cafe where the main courses range in price from US$12 to US$22.

The Tree - Church Way, Iffley, Not only does this friendly pub just outside Oxford serve great booze, it also offers food and accommodation.
Kings Arms - 40 Holywell St., This is another popular student hangout, and serves local brews along with some great, cheap pub grub.
Turf Tavern - Bath Pl., Enjoy a drink and pub grub in this place with a bunch of funny little rooms inside as well as an outdoor area where you can catch a bit of fresh air with your booze.
