| Padova Travel Guide for backpackers |

| Padua is a vibrant city boasting Italy's second oldest university and also many highrise buildings but there are still many attractions in the inner city. Many tourists stay in Padua to save on costs and then commute to Venice to see the sights there.

DAILY BUDGET in PADOVA - Finding cheap accommodation and food in Italy is a challenge but budget around USD60 to USD80.

Basilica di Sant Antonio - Built in the 13th century in Gothic and Romanesque style. Check out the Donatello Bronzes and the Donatello Relief at the back of the high altar.
Cappella degli Scrovegni - don't leave Padua before going to see these wonderful frescoes done by Giotti in 1305 - a picture story of biblical times.

Food Stalls - under the Pallazo della Ragione provide large pizzas and large sandwiches to satisfy the big appetites of the students.
Self Service Eating Places - offer full menus and good value for money . Lunch and dinner is available until 9pm.

Perche no? - Via Manzoni- a friendly little. Padua's most popular gay bar is open daily until 2am.
Australian Pub - on Via del Santo - a busy, lively pub near the university quarter is open until 2am.
Bar Nazionale - Piazza delle Erbe - closes 9pm but the bars in the narrow streets in this area is where the action is. Look around Piazza Duomo, Piazza Cavour and Prato delle Valle.
