| Paris Travel Guide for backpackers |

This wonderful old city is still as alluring as ever and unlike the mortals who have danced and loved here shows no signs of decay and decrepitude. Essentially French in all things she doesn't care if you are rich or poor she entices and tempts with equal magnetism and offers her charms for all to see.
For the hard up backpacker there is no reason to stand with your nose pressed up against the window wishing you could get in, for there is so much going on your visit will be filled with memories and experiences found no where else in the world. |

DAILY BUDGET in PARIS - It is possible by really scrimping and scraping and eating baguettes and little else to get by on US$48, but for a slightly better vacation sampling some of the exquisite French cuisine and sleeping somewhere comfortable then rather budget on US$ 98 a day. |
Cathedrale Notre Dame - Here you can keep fit and view Paris in one go; climb the 387 steps of the north tower for a spectacular view and also meet the gargoyles who have to be even uglier than last night's late night pick-up.
Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise - Strange as it may seem to list a cemetery as an attraction, this one is different, resting at peace among its fancy tombstones and magnificent statuary is Jim Morrison of the Doors, and many other famous artists and musicians.
Centre Pompidou - aka 'Beaubourg', this is all about art, modern, contemporary and very much of the 20th century.
|

Cafes - The most typically Parisian thing to do is to sit at a pavement cafe and watch the world go by, but you can also enjoy an affordable lunch of salads and grilled sandwich.
Brasseries - These are good for snacks, eggs, rolls or baguettes, and such like breakfast and brunch selections.
Street Stalls & Stand-Up Sandwich Bars - Just about every type of indigenous fast foods can be bought at these spots including other national dishes such as Greek Souvlakia, and Tunisian brik a l'oeuf.
Rue Mouffard - Near metro stop Place Monge, line 7. This road has lots of restaurants to chose from with 3 course meals from around 13€ and also a great atmosphere.
|

Melocoton - Located at 10 rue Descartes, this busy, smoky little pub is patronized by the twenty-something crowd and exchange students and is well worth a look-in.
Le Cristal - Located at 163 av de Suffren, with a clientele of young locals Le Cristal is great for inexpensive drinking and eating and getting to know the natives.
The Hard Rock Cafe Paris - Located near the Opera and the Grands Boulevards, the Hard Rock Cafe brings America to Paris with and offers much more than just food and drink.
Cafe Oz - Cool, laid back australian bar in paris. can be expensive if you go on the wrong night, check for nightly drink specials for good deals.
