| Perpignan Travel Guide for backpackers |

Charming and laid-back, this town is more Spanish than French and the Catalan language is still spoken, especially amongst the country folk.
One of the sunniest places in France, it can be unbearably hot during mid-summer. The best time to visit is around September during grape harvest season and to admire the flowers which grow here in abundance.

Le Milord - 20 rue Jules-Verne, one of the largest discos in town offering dancing, billiard tables and flirting, covers two floors of the building.
Uba-Club - 5 bd. Mercader is a club with modern decor and a smallish dance floor. The place is more intimate than some of the other hang-outs in town.
Le Habana-Club - If it’s a bar you’re looking for then try Le Habana-Club - 5 rue Grande-des-Fabriques - with recorded music and terrific cocktails.
|

Le Bistrot Gourmand - 40 rue de la Fusterie - this great bistro is reasonably priced and a favourite with the locals serving dishes like mussels in cream sauce, fillet of beef in wine or sea bass with a sweet wine sauce.
Cote’ Theatre - 7 rue du Theatre -here they serve strong, traditional dishes which include calamari and octopus salad, braised sea scallops with shallots and a number of other fish dishes served with mushrooms.
La Villa Duflot - 109 ave. Victor Dalbiez - try their warm squid salad, anchovies marinated in vinegar or foie gras of duckling. Interesting and different.
