Queenstown Travel Guide for backpackers

If your heart is brave and your spirit free then Queenstown is the place for you. It is without doubt the prime spot for adrenalin junkies with every kind of adventure sport available. It is also set in one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand and if the bungee jumping or whitewater rafting doesn't thrill you then the scenery certainly will.

DAILY BUDGET in QUEENSTOWN - Backpackers can get away with a daily budget of about US$35 if they are happy to camp or stay in hostels and provide their own food, either from fresh produce markets or as takeaways. Generally meals can be budgeted for as about US$5-10, and lodging as US$10-20.

Chard Farm Winery - Located opposite the Kawarau bungee bridge, off the SH6, the Chard Farm Winery offers free tasting of wines, from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to Gewurztraminer, with a few great sparkling wines thrown in.

Walks around Queenstown - For the price of a $1 leaflet, Queenstown Walks and Trails, you can explore the immediate countryside of Queenstown, following the map and suggested trails in the leaflet.

Shotover River - Most of the adventures and activities that Queenstown is famous for involve the Shotover River, but there are also old gold workings along the river that are worth exploring.
