Rio de Janeiro Travel Guide for backpackers

This really is a marvellous city as it name 'cidade maravilhosa' signifies, and the people here enjoy it to the fullest, drinking, dancing, and playing on the beach. In a world filled with wonders and indescribable cities, Rio stands head and shoulders above them all, with beautiful parks and gardens, grand old mansions, and a magnificent statue of Our Lord standing high on the mountain overlooking a paradise.

DAILY BUDGET in RIO DE JANEIRO - For a holiday of bumming around on the beach and not doing much else, then plan on scraping by on US$20 to US$25 a day, but you could stay in hotels, eat well, and get thoroughly soused for roughly US$40 a day.

Jardim Botanico - The Botanical Gardens in Rio is, as can be imagined, a glorious collection of Brazilian flora where you can see giant Amazon water lilies and other unbelievable plants and flowers in a natural wild setting. Tickets cost about US$ 2

Copacabana - This beach has been immortalized in song and with good reason, here everyone has a place in the sun.

Parque Nacional de Tijuca - Lose yourself in the tropical rainforest on the city's outskirts, sit in awed silence in a magical grotto, play under a waterfall, or take a hike through its jungle of plants and exotic creatures.

Santa Teresa - Santa Teresa neigbohood is a calm and beautiful place with theirs old houses Isuggest you take Santa's monorail from downtown going on Lapa Arch untill santa teresa. It's a very cheap and pleasant visit.

ipanema beach - go to posto 9 in ipanema beach.. its the best place for young travelers.. after you can eat in cheap restaurants around.. there is one that i love it.. its brasileirinho
