| Sheffield Travel Guide for backpackers |

| Badly bombed in the Second World War, Sheffield is today a lively cosmopolitan city with a vibrant student population, full of cafes, bars and modern architecture, but has not lost its heritage of old buildings entirely and there are remnants still to be found in the city centre and suburbs. Shopping is done in the pedestrian areas where department stores, discount shops, and top fashion outlets abound, and in The Moor’s there is a permanent open-air market. |

DAILY BUDGET in SHEFFIELD - With so many cafes and cheap eating places around you should be able to come out on US$40 a day, if you camp or stay at a hostel, and for US$72 a day, a B&B becomes and option, as well as restaurant food, and some paying attractions. |
Victoria Quays – Refurbished and dollied-up warehouses overlook boats moored in the canal basin, and restaurants and specialty shops are housed in the original arches still standing.
Tudor Square – Located just beyond the Town Hall is where theatres and galleries can be found, and, remembering Sheffield is the heart of the steel industry, where the impressive metalwork collection is kept.
Abbeydale Road – Know as the antique district, the rather shabby area of Abbeydale Road is home to great second-hand and antique dealers.
|

Nonnas – Eccleshall Road, serves the real deal in Italian-mamma kind of food, no preservatives or artificial colouring here, just honest to God good food.
"Taste of Kashmir" – In Crookes, to treat your taste buds you have got to get to Taste of Kashmir, where the curry is tremendous, but doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet.
Scotts Pantry – Glossop Road, for a sandwich shop that really knows how to make a sandwich fit for the gods, this is the best on the planet.
|

Tuxedo Blue – Sharrow Lane, this pub is friendly and has something different happening every night, as well and ‘open mike’ nights on Monday where some bitchin’ new talent can be seen and heard.
The Devonshire Cat - Wellington Street, There is a laid back and mellow vibe here, possibly because of the 100 or so different beers on sale.
The Beer Engine – Located next to the Safeway petrol station, this pub not only serves great beer, and has an easy-going crowd, but also serves up great, cheap, nosh.
