| One of the worlds most beautiful capitals, Stockholm is built on a series of 14 islands, the surrounding water is reportedly so clean, that if you completely run out of money and are desperate for a wash and a good meal, it is possible to swim and fish anywhere in the city. In summer the evenings seem to streach on forever while in winter the nights are fun filled, making Stockholm a city that is seriously in love with its nightlife. |

DAILY BUDGET in STOCKHOLM - Sweden is one of the most expensive European cities. Cooking your own meals and staying in campgrounds, budget on US$28 per person per day.Visit during low season in summer, stay in mid-range hotels and eat moderately priced meals US$50 or if travelling solo US$100 a day will get you by. To save maney on attraction and public transport get a Stockholm card (US$29 for 1 day; US$50 for 2 days; US$71 for 3 days) at the local tourist office, it includes a guide book and city maps. |

Haga Park - Local residents spen their leisure time on the endless lawns of the park. The area includes Gustav III pavilion, Butterfly house with hundreds of free-flying birds and butterflys and Haga Park Museum. Park itself is free, entrance fee for Museum, Butterfly House and Pavilion.
Kungliga Slottet - This is the largest royal castle in the world that is still in use. View the changing of the gaurd in the outer courtyard at 12:10pm daily from June to August.
Skansen - The worlds first open-air museum with 150 traditional houses, complete with staff dressed in period costume. It can be described as a miniture Sweden and serves as a full days entertainment. Entrance fee US$3-8 for various museums.

Hermans - Situated at Fjallg 23A. Serving great value for money vegetarian food. The food is always served buffet style and the glassed-in deck and garden provide spectacular views of the water and Gamlastan. Meals under US$17.
Il Forno - Situated at Atlasga, Vasasta. For the tastiest brick-oven pizza north of the Mediterranean head straight to Il Forno. Meals under US$17.
Humlehof - Situated at Folkungag 128. This Bavarian restaurant serves traditionl Swedish and Eastern European dishes. Try the Goulash and Swiss style Schnitzel which will fill even the hungriest of tummies on a tight budget. Meals under US$17 up to US$33.

The Ice Bar - Situated inside the Nordic Hotel next to central station, this world famous bar is definitely a must. It is the first ever permanent icebar and is literaly freezing, so the heavy white coat and gloves you are given on arrival are essential. Cover charge US$16 including first drink.
Sture Compagniet - Situated at Sturegatan 4, Norrmalam. Three floors of bars with fabulous light shows and playing house and techno music.
Tre Remmare - Situated at Vasagatan 17. The place for night owls, it entertains and feeds into the early hours of the morning. Grab a cocktail at the Sinatra Bar inside.
Cave Club / Grottan - Cave Clubb at Grottan - a goth club. On Saturdays. Location: Östgötagatan 35, Stockholm, Sweden.
