| Tabor Travel Guide for backpackers |

| Founded in the 1400's and named after the biblical Mount Tabor, indicates just how much has gone down here and how much there is to learn about this interesting town. If you are interested in religious history and have a good pair of walking shoes, then there is a sea of things for you to do and see and for those of you who are not that interested in religion don't stress, there is plenty for you to do as well. Like exploring the Kotnov Castle or figuring out the labyrinth of tunnels dating back to the 15th century. All in all everyone will have a good time. |

 |
DAILY BUDGET in TABOR - As with most trips if you can cater for your own meals and know how to camp then your cost will be brought down dramatically but if you want to stay in a motel you are looking at spending about US$11-17 for a place to sleep and about US$2-6 for your food per day. Therefore, you can get by on about US$35 per day. Have fun. |
Museum of the Hussite Movement - Find out what really happened all those years ago, try and get into the minds of the men and women of that era in Tabor. Just under the museum is a labyrinth of tunnels that date back to the 15th century, discover what they where used for back in the day.
Church of Transfiguration of Our Lord - You will be awed by the stained glass windows and Gothic alter, once you have been thought the inside climb the tower to get the best view of the city and its surrounds.
Kotnov Castle - Inside is a fine collection of armour, uniforms, farming tools and many other artefacts dating back to the middle ages.
|

Bowling Club - Good Czech food and a game of bowls, washed down by an ice-cold beer, if this is what floats your boat pull in for some fun and games.
Restaurace Beseda - This is the only place in town that has a terrace and in summer that adds to the atmosphere. Food such as svícková (sirloin in a cream sauce with dumplings) is above average and a must if you are in the neighbourhood.
Zlaty Drak (Golden Dragon) - If Czech food is becoming too much to handle then try some chicken dishes or beef ones, very quiet, chilled place.
|

Baracnicka rychta - Trziste 23, Prague 1, one of the few remaining authentic indigenous pubs, tucked away behind a series of arches, and has a beerhall frequented by students and older, and a downstairs music hall with local rock bands playing live music.
Blue Light - Josefska 1, Prague 1, this cool jazz type bar with occasional live music and jazz posters, and raucous, cheerful vibe is a popular hangout even if a bit dilapidated.
Jo's Bar - Malostranske namesti 7, Prague 1, this is a good gathering spot for backpackers and other travellers.
