DAILY BUDGET in ZURICH - Switzerland is the most expensive country to visit in Europe. If you cook your own food, stay in hostels you can get by on about US$32 excluding a rail pass. If you want to ejoy the food, nightlife and stay in pensions look at spending about US$65 a day. |
Lindt and Sprugli chocolate factory - The Swiss are renowned for their chocolate, so it would be a crime to pass up the opportunity to grab some free samples while wandering around the small exhibition area. open Wednesday to Friday 10am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. Entrance Free.
Fraumunster - This Gothic style building started life as a convent in 1853 and the spectacular stained glass by Marc Chagall is a must see.
Bahnhofstrasse - Wander one of the most prestigious shopping streets in Europe. Just try not to press your nose to hard against the shop windows!

Hilti Vegi - Situated at Sihlstr 28. Inexpensive but top-quality vegetarian lunch time buffet and at night an all-you-can-eat Indian buffet. Under US$20 up to US$32.
Suan Long - Situated on the lower shopping level of the train station. They offer cheap and very generous servings of stir fry.
Adlers Swiss Chuchi - Situated at Roseng 10. Rock-bottom cheap lunches of home-cooked national specialities, try the fondue which is one of the best in Zurich. Service is quick and the place is squeaky clean.

Odeon - Situated at Limmatquai 2. This cultural landmark is open untill 4am and serves a young arty set. Former Patrons include Lenin and Mata Hari, who danced here.
Nelsons - Situted at Beatengasse 18 near the train station. This huge noisy pub serves cheap beer and stays open late into the night.
Oxa Dance Hall - Situated at Andreastr 70. This legendary techno club draws thousands of young Swiss who dance into the early hours of the morning.
