If you need a bed and just that, then here they have beds. The hostel is far away and hard to find, no one seems to know where street 9 is. According to the photos I've seen on other sites, it seems they now have a pool, so it might have become better since I was there. If you're looking for comfort ... then you gotta find a hotel and be prepared to pay the price... well to be honest, if you want beach at backpacker price, then Punta del Este is just not the place. It is not my impression that the other hostels in Punta are any better.

Pablo, thanks to the courtesy of the Backpacker's staff you didn't go to jail, as you were caught the next day of your check out hiding in a bed in a female dorm watching the girls dressing. The place is great, it is clean and very comfortable. The staff is very polite and kind. I've been in another hostel in Punta before this one and I can tell that all hostels should be like Backpacker. They have a swimming pool, a beautiful garden and the service is great. They give you sheets, blankets, towels for free, they clean your room, they make your bed, what else can you ask for a hostel? The guy above is a lyer.

The place is very nice, but the people who work there is the low point! They don't seems to care about the people in the hostel. Backpacker is VERY FAR AWAY from the beaches, almost 10 or more blocks from the first ocean beaches. They only care about the money. One friend of mine made a reservation via Internet with his credit card, and then he tried to cancel it 1 WEEK before and they didn't do it. They charged him the room anyway. They always talk about the rules of the place, but they don't follow them. BACKPACKER should have a rule book to learn how to treat the guest!!!
