Castle Rock Hostel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Contact Details

i have just come back to home.I have been in Castle rock hostel 2 days. It is in central located of Edinburgh. Kitchen is emazing and many faciliticies can do. Also it is quite cheap-clean and comfortable hostel for backpackers.

There are actually no mixed dorms at this hostel, that's why the couple was separated; if there were naked girls running around it's because they were "guests" of the boys in the dorms. This hostel was incredible. BBQ's on Sundays, awesome movie room with a huge screen, 2 huge kitchens, super-friendly staff and great location. People come here to stay for months, even years! It was the one place I actually made friends on my trip to Britain and I can't wait to go back!

I totally disagree with the first review. I experienced the castle rock hostel as one of the cleanest, friendliest, most comfortable hostels I have stayed in during my trip through Scotland. The rooms were cleaned very thoroughly every day and although it is a big hostel with a lot of people staying there I never felt disturbed or annoyed by the other travellers. The staff was really friendly and welcoming and I can only recommend the castle rock hostel to everyone who wants to enjoy an easy going holiday in a comfy hostel.

This is worst place I have ever been asked to stay in my life. I went as part of a Uni trip and was disgusted at it. I was separated from my boyfriend and we were put into different dorms, mine was single sex and his was mixed sex of girls walking around naked! Great! Not only that, I was in a room of about 20 girls with no where to lock my stuff up. It was fowl. We ended up checking into a hotel down the road but our friends that stayed there said the breakfast was repulsive and they were kept awake all night by rowdy people. All in all I hated it and refused to stay there, I wouldnt even recommend it to hen dos or stag dos it was that bad!
