Terribly crowded rooms, dirty bathrooms with very limited hot water. Dorms were very hot (they keep the air-conditioning off during the day to make it unbearable for you to stay indoors). And the prices for the private rooms are unbelievably high! You can get a pretty decent hotel for much less. I would avoid returning here. Only good point is their pretty, but worn, lobby.

I stayed at the Summer Tavern, both in the dormitory (S$35) as well as a double room (S$65). Was very disappointed considering the positive reviews I have read (I think the owners/staff contribute to the online reviews a bit). I am very tolerant, but the place had a sweaty stench throughout. The airconditioning in the dormitory was not turned on until 10:30pm and without fans and tiny windows it made for an uncomfortable and terrible atmosphere. Showers and bathrooms were dirty. Staff seemed disinclined to check them, only very rarely. I could go on, but considering the competition elsewhere I hope people will avoid this place. I would reccommend Sleepy Sams.

Cool, hip and trendy, Summer Tavern is Singapore's largest and premier backpacker hostel / bed and breakfast. We're located in the heart of Singapore's tourist and shopping district, within very short walking distance from many of Singapore's best bars, restaurants, cafes, shopping and tourist attractions such as Boat Quay (1-minute walk away), Clarke Quay, Chinatown, the Esplanade, One Fullerton, the Merlion, CHIJMES, Raffles Hotel and more. The MRT (Singapore's subway that brings you to almost all other places of interest in Singapore) is right at the end of our block, less than a 1-minute walk away.
