The hostel is located in a very dangerous part of the city, on the night you must to becarefull everytime you go out.

i know a lot of hostel in the world, but of the Ciudad Vieja at Montevideo is one of the best that i´ve been. The people who work at that hostel is incredible! and help all the tourist a lot. the instalations are very clean and beatifull ... and is near, so near (1 minute walking) for the center and for the nightlife too. when you´ll go to montevideo, you have to stay at ciudad vieja hostel!

Red Hostel Montevideo is a fully recycled mansion from the 1912th located right in the centre of the capital city of Uruguay.
We offer spacious rooms with private balconies looking on to the street. The building itself is flooded with light from each of three beautiful skylights, and for a view of the neighborhood from above, we offer a spacious terrace (more than 400 sq. m), where guests can take in a nap on a sunny day or a true Uruguayan asado (outdoor BBQ) with friends.
All rooms are spacious, comfortable, with polished floors and balconies.
We offer you Female Dorms, Mixed Dorms, Double Bunk Rooms and Double Twin Rooms. Doubles have private Satellite TV and DSL connection.

I was one of the first, to stay in this hostel. The people were great and the building itself is very impressive. If I am ever back in Montevideo this is were I'll be staying.

Also is the more secure part of the city, you can go walking to the old town and the beach in 10 minutes without any care¡¡¡
