Luke's Residence, Palolem - Reviews & Contact Details

Just wonderfull, the paradise on earth ! Thanks to this Netherlands couple very sympatic I keep great rememberings for all the rest of my life. Bernard - Brussels staying there one week (05/2006)

A good quality, clean, comfortable guest house which is a 15 minute walk to the beach (albeit through some slums and a cemetery) and about 25 minute walk to Palolem Town (5 minutes by rickshaw after dark). The owners are keen to make sure that their guests have everything that they need, although their constant attentions and supervision can get a little trying at times. We moved to Patnem Beach after 3 nights to be nearer the sea and restaurants/bars.

Luke and Innes were godsends. I was holidaying with family when my mother became very ill and needed to get to hospital urgently. Luke and Innes made a very traumatic experience alot easier, getting a doctor, advice on which hospital to go to and other answers which aren't in the Rough Guide. Luke and Innes, Thank you.

You cant beat Luke's Residence anywhere in Palolem. We have previously stayed in the huts on the beach which are great if your 18 and travelling the world on a shoestring budget. What we wanted this time was a large comfortable bed and a decent private bathroom. Luke's Residence had all this and more. The couple who run it are fantastic. The rooms were very clean and the wet room was fab! We got engaged in Palolem and I could go back there time and time again and never be tired of it.

We had beautifull holidays:kindly people, nice rooms, fine dinners and a lot of hospitality and always the sun. We enjoyed the surroundings: beaches, wonderfull nature, special architecture.

On the positive side, the place has everything you need, is clean and the owners are keen to take care of you. It is not close to a 5 star restaurant as some of the above reviews may have you believe, but it is a nicely kept place. 10-15 minute walk from the beach. On the downside, the owners are a miserable couple who seem to hate being in the hospitality industry. Every time I left/came back to my room I dreaded running into them, as I was sure to hear a litany of complaints - about previous guests, current guests, etc. They repeatedly complained about how much money they were spending on to keep us comfortable, how we were not eating at their restaurant (from which they profit), and how we should book car service to the airport through them (guess who gets a cut?). Hosts should make you feel comfortable and they failed at this terribly.

Excellent, warm and friendly atmosphere. Topclass hygienic.
Good food in the garden-restaurant.
And above all; the best bed I ever slept on in India.

Luke's Residence is a guesthouse with six big luxury-rooms , four with attached bathrooms, and a nice multicuisine garden-restaurant. The beds are of the best quality boxsprings, provided with white sheets. In the mansoon-period it is closed.
We combine (being a Dutch/Indian couple) Indian hospitality with Western clean bedrooms, bathrooms and restaurant-kitchen
We have warm water from a solar-system, and a back-up-system for power-supply for at least six hours.
It is situated just outside of Palolem on the road to Pathnem in a quiet-village area, but still just seven minutes walking to Palolem beach.
