OPEN JULY 2006
A place to rest and relax among huge dunes and 11 mile beach. You are very welcome to join us, Rob and Val, at our isolated former lighthouse shore station in this gorgeous most easterly part of mainland Scotland opposite the northern tip of Denmark. This is one of the driest, sunniest, midge-free areas of Scotland and many hours can be spent exploring the shipwrecks and ruined village and chapel. The 1892 granite accommodation block has been renovated to form a non-smoking, dog-friendly coastal retreat with full disabled access. The ground floor hostel and two first floor holiday flats offer all the modern conveniences you would expect. The bedrooms each have a standard bunkbed and a triple bunkbed (lower double and upper single). Toiletries, basics and meal packs available from the on-site tearoom.
We are on the Nave Nortrail footpath and the Aberdeenshire Coastal Trail which follow the North Sea coastline. The North Sea Cycle Route (Sustrans Route 1) is only 17 miles away where it passes through this historic area overflowing with stone circles, castle ruins and golf courses.
