Plain beer - Ireland

Plain - Like Guinness, but REAL
RATING > 9 - by Paul Rafferty | Type : Ale | Country : Ireland | Date > 2005-04-23
The porterhouse in Dublin brew all of their own beer. They only use natural ingredients. They've actually got a blackboard over the bar with a list of common ingredients in commercial beers - additives, artificial flavours, chemicals, colouring etc. The list of ingredients in their own beers is staggeringly small. Generally, water, hops, yeast. They make several really nice brews (red ale, wheat beer, stout..) but this is their best. Stout may be an acquired taste, but like all acquired tastes, it's worth it. This one is possibly the best one there is.
