Polar

RATING > 9 - by don abrams | Date > 2004-11-12
i gotta disagree with the previous rating of a 6 for polar. A beer must fit its location, and polar fits Venezuela as well or better than any other beer fits its country that i have seen in my travels. aside from that, it is a great tasting beer with a beautiful color. it is a symbol of Ven, as much as stella artois is for belgium or guiness is for ireland!

Well I just moved to Miami where South American beers are abundant. I must admit after trying my first Polar I was hooked. I must take the trip to taste this beer in its home country as most beers are usally better at home.

RATING > 10 - by Raf | Date > 2005-03-04
This beer is the best I have ever tasted and I have been all over europe(Germany, france, switzerland, england and italy etc) wich has outstanding beers. Nothing however compares to the taste, the smoothness and the sheer joy you get when you taste it. I only wish it were more avaliable here in the US. POLAR=BEER

RATING > 10 - by Mitch Patalano | Date > 2005-03-04
Is there a place to buy Polar Beer near las Angeles. We loved it while living in Aruba. My friends all would buy cases if it.

RATING > 6 - by DocSavage | Date > 2005-03-25
It's OK, I suppose. Very drinkable when ice cold, and served in tiny bottles or cans so they stay cold until finished. It's quite satisfying to build a huge pile of midget-sized cans over the course of a day. The lack of flavour is common to other Venezuelan beers, but they're dirt cheap - about 20 US cents a pop. Settle down in a hammock and watch the world go by.

I am with Stacy, where in NY can I buy Polar beer ?? I was in Ven a few years ago and lived on Polar for a whole week. Nothing goes better with a Bolivar cigar !!

RATING > 10 - by Trey | Date > 2005-06-10
I went to Aruba with the intention to try as many different beers as I could. Polar was the first beer we tried and the only beer we drank the whole trip. The only way to drink this beer is to have it as cold as you can get it, any warmer does this beer no justice. Happy Drinking.

Best beer in the world. Spent 10 days on Margarita Island and lived on the stuff, cheaper than bottled water, 10 cents from the supermarket!! Polr Ice was my fave, especially when it was served half frozen, slushi like. Really wish we could get it here in Aus, nothing compares in price or taste.

RATING > 10 - by walter gonzalez | Date > 2005-06-12
I think this beer is great and I drink about a 12-pack every few days.I live near miami and you can get 12-pack POLAR BEER in any Publix supermarket for about $9.00. I have traveled to venezuela sevral times and the polar beer that they export to USA is alot bettter. If your in venezuela try REGIONAL LIGHT BEER it is the best....

RATING > 9 - by Evan Ryder | Date > 2005-07-14
Solera and Polar are both excellent beers. I was just in Margarita a couple of weeks ago and I have been trying to track it down here in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately I have had no luck thus far.

RATING > 9 - by H | Date > 2005-07-19
A great beer; I used to get it in Dallas, Texas when I moved here in the late 1980's, but haven't seen it in quite a while. One interesting note is that my family lived in Maricaibo in the late 1960's, and my dad got to know the brew master at Polar (he was a German who had emigrated). My dad loved the beer, and told the brew master it was his favorite. The brew master replied "Danke. My favorite is the US Budweiser!"

RATING > 4 - by Adam Holland | Date > 2005-08-17
With all due respect I cannot understand how someone can claim that Polar is the best beer in the world. It is very comparable to a Bud Light. There is hardly any flavor to it and it tastes more like water. I have spent many months living in Venezuela (an amazing country) with my wife and have never been convinced of its superior quality. Germany has some of the most flavorful beers in the world, so does belgium. How one can claim that Polar is better tasting is beyond me. It leads me to believe that that person really dosnt appreciate a high quality beer. Beer is much like wine in that it is an aquired taste. But if you re looking for a cheap buzz beach beer then Polar is one of the best.

RATING > 10 - by Adam Green | Date > 2005-08-23
POLAR is the best beer all over the world... Frozen, cold or even hot you can enjoy this beer..although I rather the half frozen ones.. As a pilsen beer this full body and flavor one is my favorite...

RATING > 10 - by David Girgenti | Date > 2005-09-11
I just so happen to have the whole inside scoop on Polar beer, and I will say that it is the best beer I have ever tasted, with the exception that it must be bought right from Venezuela to get the proper full effect, because any preservatives that have been tried have taken away from the top of the line taste. The owners have tried to use additives in order to gain shelf life, with no success, which is the reason it is not sold all over the U.S., only in South Florida! Go to South America, and enjoy!

RATING > 10 - by Eric | Date > 2005-09-23
i was lucky enough to get a couple bottles of this and I fancy myself a conniseur of barley soda's. ;) Truly one of the best tasting beers i have had the pleasure of ingesting, I just wish there was somewhere here in po-dunk Missouri I could find it. (without additives)

RATING > 10 - by Alan | Date > 2005-10-21
I have family who work in Caracas and visit the region regularly. This is a great beer and I just wish I could get it here in the UK.

RATING > 8 - by Nancy | Date > 2005-11-04
I wouldn't give Polar a 10. Its a fine beer, a solid 8 (better than Aguila). In comparison to the other pilsners in the region (brahma from Brazil or Quillmes from Argentina), Polar has a nice rich flavor, but it has strange after taste. but if drink it very cold with a nice meal (meats and rice) its perfect. i don't know if i would crown it the best beer in all of Latin America, but it is an essential beer that must be experienced.

RATING > 8 - by Hans | Date > 2005-10-27
I live between 2 beer country's, germany and belgium also the Netherlands has a lot of beer brewers, but I have to say It's a good beer, I have tasted a lot of brands, but there is just one disadvance, the bottles are way to small. but I can get them just arount the corner.

Polar Ice is like heaven in a bottle and by god it changed my life forever. If only I had a cold Polar Ice right now, my life would be perfect no matter what else I had going on

My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon to Venezuela, and from the first sip I took, I was addicted!!!! My favorite was Solera Light...I couldn't get enough! Polar is definitely a beer you won't want to miss!

RATING > 3 - by Tim | Date > 2006-01-24
I'm amazed by the reviews on this page. Not to knock anyone, but Polar (in all of it's forms) is one of the worst beers I've ever had. LIke all of the beers here in Venezuela, it's watery without much flavor. It's drinkable on the beach if it's served ICE cold, however, normally, I'd rank it right above Pig's Eye or Grainbelt, two staples of the $5 all-you-can-drink frat-party.

RATING > 10 - by John Horsley | Date > 2006-02-05
I wished they sold Polar Beer in Canada. I can't find it in the LCBO and they won't ordered for me unless I order alot of cases. Too bad, I'd be a steady customer

No, I never had a PLOAR beer, but I've heard alot of good things about it. Was this the same beer company that Patrice Lamumba worked for before he became a revolutionary?

Just got bak from a month school trip in Venezuela. Had polar on the top of Mount Roraima, beneath Angel Falls and at Puerto Columbia and it could not fit the requirements of a tourist more- ice cold and refreshing. Ok, so it isnt exactly becks or fosters on the quality scale but it did the job exceedingly well after many hard treks!!!

RATING > 10 - by Joachim kohen | Date > 2006-09-14
I traveled around the world and never in my life I tasted a beer like Venezuela Polar Beer, The Solera is the best, I love it, The Belgium beer and the German beer are nothing as it

Oscar- I live in Portland, and if you can get POLAR here I will be your best customer! The beer was good, but not sure if my memory of it is tainted by the fact that I was consuming POLAR while sitting on a beach in Los Roques watching pelicans dive for fish...life was good!

I am working at the Polar plant in Valencia Venezuela commisioning equipment. This the best plant start up I have had. Great Beer, Free Samples, and a number of the plant supervisors and engineers are the most gorgeous women on this planet and very professional as well. I agree with previous comments regarding the beer, I am drinking a bottle Solera Premium, ice cold at the moment.

Visited a latin grocery in Cleveland with a friend from Venezuela who recommended Polar. We bought their only six-pack, got it nice and cold and thoroughly enjoyed it! Full-bodied, refreshing, delicious. I wish it was more widely available.
